Durability and Sustainability

Yes, our yurts are built for strength and durability. The lattice structure supporting the walls is 1.5” thick, providing exceptional stability. Additionally, we use highly resilient fabric to ensure long-lasting performance.

How Long Can I Expect the Yurt to Last?

With proper maintenance, your yurt can last up to 25 years. Our commitment to quality materials and construction ensures that your investment will stand the test of time.

Is the Yurt Rain-Proof?

Our yurts are designed to withstand heavy rain. They feature water resistant acrylic fabric walls and a heat-sealed exterior layer on the roof to provide optimal protection against tropical rains.

Is the Yurt Mold-Proof?

Yes, our yurts use mold-resistant fabric for the walls and are designed to prevent damp pockets by not sealing the fabric to the yurt floor. This helps minimize mold and mildew issues.

Is the Yurt Insulated from Heat?

Our yurts are naturally self-ventilated to keep the interior cool and breezy in tropical heat. For enhanced heat insulation, we recommend adding a heat-repelling roof lining. This design helps maintain a comfortable temperature inside.

How Does Self-Ventilation Work?

Self-ventilation in our yurts is achieved through dome vents at the high ceiling, which expel hot air. Large windows around the yurt allow fresh air to circulate, and breathable acrylic fabric further aids in ventilation. Adding natural wood flooring can also enhance airflow.

How Well Do Your Yurts Hold Up to Wind and Earthquakes?

Our yurts are engineered to be flexible, making them resilient against earthquakes and strong winds. The rafters and lattice structure move with the forces instead of breaking. For added wind resistance, we offer a wind compression add-on. However, we advise against setting up yurts in extremely windy locations.

Is the Yurt Insulated from Insects/Pests?

Our yurt design minimizes the risk of insect infestations by preventing dark, humid pockets where pests might thrive. All windows are equipped with mosquito mesh to keep bugs out.

Are Yurts Energy-Efficient?

Yes, our yurts are energy efficient. They benefit from natural daylight and ventilation, reducing the need for additional energy sources to maintain an optimal living temperature.

What Is the Environmental Impact of a Yurt?

Our yurts have a minimal environmental impact. Constructing a yurt requires fewer resources compared to a traditional hard-wall house, and we use recycled plastic fabric for the walls. Building locally in Hawaii also reduces the carbon footprint associated with shipping from the continental United States.
